"I feel very happy to join in this programme because I have learnt not only some new knowledge and management skills, but also made lot of friends with classmates, lecturers and professors. In the meantime, I greatly benefit from the mutual sharing of our experience and knowledge."
"This course involves building techniques with theories and organizational methods in building construction management. It is crucial to enable the students to master basic theories and have the abilities to identify and handle problems in practice. After taking this course, I have a better understanding of the fundamental concepts. I found the classes enjoyable."
"I find it rewarding to choose to study with the University of Wolverhampton. Being awarded the BSc (Hons) Construction Management within 2 years helped me achieve my goal quickly with a well recognised university. I am also able to catch up with the opportunity to work for the world's largest private development project in Macau with confidence and enthusiasm. With the BSc(Hons) qualification, I can continue my studies with the MBA course being offered by the Macau University. I have experienced the warm help and support of the staff of SCOPE, even after graduation. Special thanks are also given to my academic advisors for their recommendation to my enrolment of the MBA course."
I have been running my business in construction field over 12 years. In 2010, I took part in BSc (Hons) in Construction Management which not only enhances knowledge and theories but also augment technical skills for everyday application to fit in my business, especially in construction planning and programming, and contract administration.
It is my pleasure to meet some amazing professors and classmates in the program. Professors shared their expertise with demonstrating some accomplished projects and the course allowed me to broaden networks in my industry. By achieving such a milestone, I kept on studying the Master Degree in Business Administration and Postgraduate certificate in Building Engineering afterward.
To strive for excellence and lifetime learning are my goals in every aspect and this is even more significant in construction industry. I am appreciated the program leads me to the right track of success so that I can charter in The Chartered Institute of Building and Quantity Surveyors International.
This programme broadens my horizon by assembling the practical cases on different aspects of the Built Environment Sector. I have been trained with the comprehensive knowledge that all related employees shall face in the workplace. I appreciate the supports given by the teachers of UoW and SCOPE who provide guidance by coming across the trial and error experience with us together. The programme could definitely enhance our continuous pursue of profession in our career development. This programme open the way for immersing into the Built Environment Sector.
The School has well organised a conversion course for us in Summer before commencement of the programme, so that the students who are lacking in the bachelor’s degree in relation to the Construction Management/Quantity Surveying disciplines like me could quickly adapt to studies.
The 2-year programme is delivered by the UK lecturers and HK tutors. The teachers are so experienced, and they help us understand the consistence of the industrial environments in both UK and HK. We obtained the basic knowledge and principles from the UK lecturers while the sharing by the local tutors is very useful. The elaboration on the principles of the theories helps me a lot in doing the assignments and taking the examination.
I treasure so much the literature reviews and other resources that I had researched from the libraries of the UoW and CityU. I am grateful to all UK lecturers and HK tutors that they have spent extra time to help our studies via the online teaching classes, even if we cannot see each other face-to-face in lessons for some months due to the epidemic in this academic year of 2019-20. Their quick responses and feedbacks to students enquires could undoubtfully explain why this programme has received good reputation in the two decades since establishment.
The conversion course in Summer tailor-made for the students of semi-cognate entry route had enriched my basic understanding in construction technology and management. It helps me a lot in my studies after the commencement of academic year.
The UK Professors taught us the principle concepts during the intensive week in the “Fly-in” lectures. Even though the schedule is tight, I could learn better by absorbing new information in such high concentration.
I feel the programme is well-designed and comprehensive which provides an introductory of the current practice of the construction industry in both UK and Hong Kong. It is thoroughly useful because it directly linked to what I am working now and adopted the real example into the coursework. This helps me to polish my own practice and let me to explore and learn from different perspectives. The lecturers and tutors are knowledgeable and helpful.
For improvements, I think it is better to have some tutorials for the dissertation writing, especially on methodologies and data analysis sections. On the other hand, group project is better to reduce since most of the students were working in full-time; some were very busy and it's hard to have the group discussion in most of the time.
All in all, this was a great experience and I am glad that I made the decision to attend the programme.
