MSc in Fire Safety Engineering, University of Central Lancashire
Applications will no longer be accepted for admission from 2024/25 academic year onwards.
This broad-based programme, which is equivalent to one year’s full-time study, is intended for holders of Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering or other related disciplines with an aim to provide an integrated programme of broadening of studies in a quality environment.
The level of education provided by the programme is appropriate to those students who hold senior positions within the fire-related professions. Throughout the programme, emphasis will be placed on self-motivation, independent and critical thinking, and analytical ability.
- Professional Recognitions: A well-established articulation to become professional engineers and obtain professional recognitions (CEng / MHKIE)
- Alumni Networks: Over 1,000 UCLan fire programme graduates successfully completed their studies of MSC/BEng/FDSc through CityU SCOPE in the past 10 years
- Enrichment of Students’ Academic Knowledge: Strengthening students’ knowledge and competency in the science of fire engineering
- Enhancement of Students’ Employability: Meeting the training need on fire engineering in major disciplines such as Building Services Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architectural Studies

- Teaching and Learning Supports: Students can access to CityU Library, CityU Computing Services Centre and SCOPE Resources Centre with dedicated collections on fire engineering
- Financial Supports to Industry Practitioners: A 5% discount on the programme fee of non-CEF reimbursable modules offered to all paid-up IFE (HK Branch) Members
Master of Science (MSc) in Fire Safety Engineering is an exempted programme under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance (ref. number:451312). It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize any qualification to which this programme may lead.
